VCU Rams host baseball clinics for Richmond kids

The Carson Raymond Foundation came to Richmond thru the help of the VCU Rams baseball team and coaches. Using a similar format as the Carson Cavaliers, The Raymond Rams hosted 60 local Richmond students for a three day clinic at their home field, The Diamond. Over the course of three weeks the kids enjoyed coaching stations including hitting, throwing, catching and running practice. During the third session, the team put together a test of their new skills. After each session, a local restaurant (Baja Bean, Chick-Fil-A Willow Lawn, Papa John Pizza and Virginia Artesian Water) provided a meal for the players and their chaperones. Youth from Anna Julia Cooper, Blackwell Elementary, Peter Paul Development Center, MLK Boys and Girls club and St. Christopher’s school were represented. At the end of the last session, each player got to choose a glove to take home. St. Christopher’s MS sponsored a glove drive to provide each of the participants with a glove to keep.
