Carson Raymond expands to Richmond thru the VCU Baseball Program

On Saturday, April 23rd, Carson Raymond Foundation officially brought their programming to Richmond, VA. During 2016, CRF declared that it would be “Beyond Baseball, Beyond Charlottesville” and we have been successful on both fronts already. In conjunction with the VCU Men’s Baseball program, CRF brought together 3rd graders from the Friends Association and St. Christopher’s 8th grade baseball team for a day of food, fun and baseball at the Diamond in Richmond to watch the VCU Rams take on their cross town rivals, the University of Richmond Spiders. The Friends Association is one of the oldest non profits in Richmond and serves the youth in the Gilpin public housing area. This was the first step in a yearlong program with the two groups. In the fall, the VCU Rams will be hosting the Raymond’s Rams clinics to teach these youngsters baseball and life skills, much like the highly successful CRF program at the University of Virginia. In addition to the clinic, the foundation and VCU plans to help build or rehab a ball field in the Friends Association’s neighborhood for the use of the Gilpin Court residents.
